
In My Opinion: Advertising today is seldom executed correctly.
Coming on “jokingly” strong with your pitch and mile-long sales page will (surprisingly) work, as long as you call it what it is. Why? Oh! Yes, yes! Because we’ve realized that people aren’t stupid! (well, actually we’ve known that). However, that is not the reason why the need for smarter advertising exists today, but rather, the reason why the need for smarter advertising exists today is simply because we have done everything else! As a free-thinker and natural born marketer, the choice to evolve is my only option. And if you think about it, when has “Living in the past” ever shown to be a benefit in the world of advertising anyway? The Economy will change, priorities will shift, and with them, so will peoples needs. Whether we choose to approach those needs through viral videos, simple on-line shopping carts or Twitter campaigns, we should be coming from an honest place. Not just swooping in from the other side of a two-way mirror with false empathy; and the “Solution Of The Century”. Or, just call it what it is, and make the sale.
