Droid and Nexus One get Multitouch!

So, if you are not a fan of the android brand than you don’t know that til earlier this week there was no pinch to zoom apps from google. there have been apps that support it, but they are not from google, one such app was ethereal dialpad, it plays musical pitches depending on where you touch the screen. One version if it shows light and plays music while another has little specs of dust type particles dancing around depending on where you touch, but it proves multitouch can exist.

Now, just this past week the Nexus One got full multitouch support on the map, browser and gallery apps that come stock with google phones, there was some anger out there from other android users that we don’t get that, why don’t we get that! I heard it quite a bit, but then this morning pinch to zoom maps came to droid (it also included more maps labs features). Its pretty awesome, for a lot of people, i personally already had the browser, maps and gallery activated, it was transfered from the Nexus one to the droid via a hack.

Anyhow, its great to see google supporting multitouch now, and the reason why is that google and apple were friends, had agreements, but I guess a member of the board who was on googles staff as well as apples staff left apple to go just to google and Steve Jobs has also been throwing crap around about google so that let to ALL BETS BEING OFF! I wouldn’t be surprised if G1 or MyTouch saw more multitouch.

I am excited and even though this isn’t a serious improvement, a lot of people see it as that!
