Google Just Took Social Media Up A Notch!

This morning, Google woke up in an announcing mood and gave us Google BUZZ! The newest, latest greatest Twitter/Facebook competitor! Now, if it goes the way of Google Wave, it will be frequently if not at all used.

I think this won’t be like Wave, Wave is something that will get used eventually but I do not think people are ready for it! However, this is out, its now and it has a mobile site for iPhone and all Android based phones (someone please confirm whether or not its on blackberry by commenting here). If you check the Buzz link I posted above you will see a mobile site or a full blown Gmail in site add on, but this depends on where you access it from. Now I am not lucky enough to have it in my Gmail yet, it is getting released slowly, my guess is so that it can be tested slowly for bugs.

So since I have seen the mobile version, here are a few snapshots… this is the main screen

second is the google link, there is a buzz icon in the right hand corner and you click it to update a buzz from googles mobile home page!

another features is the map! I just realized this was there at lunch time, you can see all the buzzes around you on google maps! WAY COOL! the little things that look like talk bubbles are buzzes! there are a ton in UTAH!

the last is that on android (not sure about iphone or blackberry) you can press and hold the search button and say “BUZZ POST” and then tell it what you want to post, here is what i said, and hey, i heard voice recognition gets better with the android 2.1 update that nexus one has already and that Droid is getting by the end of this week!

So basically, its a great web app and when I get my hands on the Gmail integrated version I am sure it will be great as well, from what I know about Google, the Internet version will be more powerful and will allow customization for the mobile version!
